As a student of Ted Moores' WoodenBoat School class, David Racicot worked on this strip-built Freedom 17 canoe, designed by Steve Killing. David took it home and launched it in September 2002 at Suffolk, VA.
The “CHELSEA” was purchased by me in 1985 at a marina in Somers Point, NJ after coming back from a trip to Jamaica and and being introduced to sailing on a Sunfish.
This is a modified version of a T.L. Simmons 18′ sea skiff.I used marine plywood sides instead of Lapstrake. I use the boat in the 10,000 Islands and in the Atlantic. Very seaworthy and tough.
This Adirondack Guide-boat has a cedar stripped hull over steam bent spruce ribs. She has Curly maple stems and decks with Cherry deck caps. The gunwales and hand caned seats are cherry. The paddle is Cherry. The oars are hard maple. She has galvanized steal shoes.

SHADOW of Gig Harbor, Wa USA. Maiden voyage April 14th, 2024. For his 3rd wooden boat build Stewart Nelson chose the SQUIRT, a Glen L. Design. The 10′ craft is outfitted with a 15hp outboard motor.
1971, 60′ FDMY by Pacemaker. 2 1/2 years rebuilding her bottom. Short shake down cruise last season and looking forward to launching and a long boating season this year.
