Manasek was traditional construction - in old times used by Scouts in Czech republic. It was easy to build — just from three wide boards. It was paddled by double blade paddle.
Max Buckland couldn't be happier with his 9′ Kidyak, MAXINE, built for him by his grandfather Alan Deforest of Wilimington, North Carolina, and presented to Max on Christmas Day, 2011.
Mike Magnusson built this solo wood-strip canoe for his son Stephen, using cedar strip planking and ash for the trim and seats. He used maple and wenge for the mosaic design on the side, and lacewood for the bow and stern decks. Fiberglass cloth and epoxy cover the boat inside and out.
Reuel Kaighn named this 34' full keel sloop after his father-in-law, John Lord, a naval architect and marine engineer. JL is a James B. DeWitt one-design, built by him in 1950 in Oakland, CA. She spent nearly ten years in storage, before being restored at Shotwell Boatyard, in Nescopeck, PA.
Eric Blumhagen writes "I built SOLACE with the able assistance of my wife, my idea woman. After a year and a half of work, I launched it on November 12, 2000. It now hangs from our living room ceiling when not being used on Washington lakes.
David Schmidt and Michael Crisell built this 15'7" sharpie skiff, designed by Steve Redmond, under the watchful eye of James Younes in his boat shop in Suquamish, WA. They used okoume plywood, mahogany, and Western red cedar.
Designed by Mike Roberts of Headland Bay Boats in Brisbane, Australia. This is the Eve (short for “Evolution”) 16, a strip plank bottom and glued lapstrake sides, based on the same designers Green Island 15 Stitch and Glue version.Sail area is a gunter rig of about 106 sq. ft.
With bowsprit and boomkin this Steve Redmond Elver design has a total length of 27'. Built by Gib Sosman over 14 years of part-time work, EPONA was launched on May 29, 2003 on Clinton Lake in Kansas.
Relaunchings----This is a 10ft 5 inch catboat I built from a kit in 2000 from a boatbuilder that is no longer in business, (Upper Deck Boat shop). I had it in Mystic in 2000 for the WoodenBoat Show.
A 16 ft clinker canoe of larch on oak from John Gardners 'Classic Small Craft'. The cubbies aft and fore form watertight compartments.
