Found this on Vintage Boats and set about building it light and cheap. Total build boat about $300 nz ply and glass cloth with polyester. Ply was not treated and with a heavy scoring got a good bond.Could not believe how well it goes with me at 84 kg with a 5 hp OB.
Kenny Cooper built his Glen-L 14 daysailer with oak frames and marine plywood sheathed by 6oz fiberglass cloth and epoxy. He used red gum that had been salvaged by his father for the brighwork, while the sails and rigging were salvaged from a Capri 14.2.
Took the ERIE FEELING (Jeff Spira’s Clemente design) for a maiden voyage. Almost 2 1/2 years making. It was an outdoor summertime weekend family project. Still needs finishing touches but it performed well. This is build #2. Number 1 was Jeff's same smaller Hatteras version.
Richard Knight built this Sassafras 14 canoe from a kit designed by CLC using 4 mm okoume planks, which resulted in a finished weight of just over 42 pounds. He found the lapstitch construction to work well, the hull easily came together straight and true.
Jeff Ennis and his four sons built this birchbark canoe (16' x 36") in the summer of 2004 in Lac St. Marie, Canada. They used birch bark, green cedar, and spruce root in the construction. The green wood can be easily split into almost paper-thin sheets for making the floorboards.
Jim Rester built this 14′ Kaholo paddleboard from a kit by Chesapeake Light Craft. The hull is made from okoume plywood, with a mesquite transom. Jim made the paddle from black walnut.
21′ inboard utility. Sapele ply over Douglas fir frames. 1965 Ford inline 6 at 120 HP.
Odessa is a gaff-rigged L.F. Herreshoff-designed Buzzards Bay 14 (17′ LOA, 3-foot draft, 5′10″ beam) sloop launched June 8 at Clark Boat Yard in Jamestown, Rhode Island. The hull for “Odessa” was built by Graves Yacht Yard, Marblehead, Mass.
Built by owner in 2023 to lines and offsets in The Dory Book by John Gardner.
