I built this 15′ Wittholz Cat Boat in about 3 years with help from my wife and my teenage daughter. The boat is made of marine plywood over an oak frame. We enjoy sailing along the Hudson River, north of the Tappan Zee Bridge just about every weekend.
This a my build of the Chesapeake Light Craft, Skerry.
It is classic working, rowing sailer with a Scandinavian design.
Using John Gardner's Dory Book for instruction and inspiration, G++nter Voss built this 16-foot dory for his grandchildren to use, based on Gardner's 18-foot Light Dory. Voss modified the sheer and the top of the transom, and added a centerboard and a small lug rig.
Richard Albert built this 14' pulling boat SECOND SNAKE designed by Henry Rushton (Model 109 Pulling Boat of 1884), launch ing it on August 9, 2004. He uses it on the Delaware and Raritan Canal in New Jersey, and the Delaware River.
Adrienne Keller and her father Kip launched their Penguin sailboat in October of 2007, the first boat either of them had built. Kip sailed Penguins, which were designed by Phil Rhodes, as a youth in upstate New York.
Built by Russ Sabia of Belmont, Massachusetts and donated to the 7 Lakes Alliance in Belgrade Lakes, Maine to help raise funds to support their land and water conservation efforts around the Belgrade Lakes.This solo canoe is 11′6″ with a 2′4″ beam and took approximately 120 hours to build.
Gene and Luanna Dykens of Holland, MI launched a 16' wooden canoe with a Polynesian outrigger on April 25, 2003 in Long Lake, MI. Besides paddle propulsion, the boat is also equipped with a small electric motor.
In 2002, Sal Balsamo built this Ninigret V-bottomed bassboat designed by Atkin Boats of Noroton, CT. Sal used 3/8" okoume plywood planking over white oak frames fastened with bronze screws.
In May 2012, Jay Thomas launched his 15′6″ Voyager Solo canoe in Coot Bay Pond in Everglades National Park at the southern tip of Florida.
