Wee Robbie
I chose this design as a chance to try strip building and the epoxy approach. The boat is made of Eastern White Cedar, Western Red Cedar and Walnut. I used System Three Epoxy and Captains Z Spar Varnish For the finish. The project took 3 months elapsed time working almost full time at it!
NPW
I built this kayak all by my lonesome in a little shop in Pemaquid, Maine. She’s a beauty (takes after her owner is what I’ve been told), and handles something like a Corvette. I just finished a trip with her up the coast to Machias Port, and am back home dry and tired.

Whitupau finally met the Salish Sea & will be at Port Townsend next weekend
Whitupau is an Oceanic proa dug out of a Western Red Cedar log. Its hull form is Micronesian-inspired (longitudinally symmetrical, but transversely asymmetrical with more camber on the windward side). Its structure is Māori-inspired.
Yankipoo & Clara Belle
Natalie McHaffie built two Nutshell Prams in her living room for her grandchildren.Grandson Yann’s “Yankipoo” has an inlaid transom with the boat’s name and dragon logo.
PROSPECTOR CANOE
Keith Telfer writes "A group of seven volunteers from Wellspring Cancer Support Center, both cancer patients and caregivers, built this canoe in ten weeks. We built it for a charity auction to raise money for the Center.
FOOTLOOSE BEACH CRUISER
Dom Zack of Waterbury, VT built this boat for his grandsons, Colin and Anthony, who live on the Indian River in Melbourne, FL. They launched it on the 25 of March 2002. It is a Footloose Beach Cruiser designed by Jordan Wood Boats. He used 3/8" and 1/4" marine plywood with frames made of fir.
PEACE TRAVELER
This 17' Arctic Tern Kayak is Matt FitzGibbon's second boat. He built it from a kit by Pygmy Boats, Port Townsend, WA 98368. His children contributed to the building effort. He recommends the book Kayaks You Can Build by Ted Moores and back issues of WB for other would-be builders.
